Indy Eleven - Historical Kits

In 2013, Indy Eleven introduced their first jerseys, designed by Patrick Cummings, the designer of the team's crest, and manufactured by Diadora. I'll let Patrick describe the team's initial jerseys and some of his inspiration behind the jerseys (using the Way Back Machine archive of his site's blog post) and most of the images of the jerseys from the early years are borrowed from Patrick's site with his permission:
"On all jerseys, a tonal checkerboard pattern runs in the body area (front and back) that calls out Indianapolis’ rich racing heritage and the Brickyard Battalion supporters group. The sleeves are solid so to give a bit of an old school look instead of the entire jersey being checkerboard. There are contrast cuffs on all 3 jerseys as well as a contrast stripe down the sleeve. The cuffs and stripes were both kept navy on the red intentionally to give a bolder look. Perhaps none of these elements alone are unique in the world of soccer but together they create a bold unique look for the Indy Eleven.
The Indy Eleven badge is over the player/fan’s heart, which I feel is an important symbolic location. On the back neck the Indy Eleven wordmark is printed above the player name and number. Speaking of the numbers, each features the circle/star from the civic flag and radial arched names. They are set in the official team font, which is featured throughout the identity.
Diadora and the Indy Eleven staff did a terrific job making the design come to life. The one addition that they made really put the jersey over the top. Adding the contrast along the hem was a fantastic touch that really polishes off the jersey."
The initial checkerboard jerseys were in three colors; navy for the home, white for the away, and a red alternate, with the navy and white jerseys used for the first three years of the club's existence. It wasn't until 2017, when Indy moved to Adidas, that new home and away jerseys were introduced. However, the team has had different alternate jerseys and special jerseys throughout their history and I'll try to cover those as well in this archive.

2015 - Diadora

In addition to the alternate kit and the special jerseys, the early years of Indy Eleven included multiple combinations of the jersey, shorts, and socks. At the end of the 2015 season, Patrick put together a compressive ranking of all of the jersey combinations that year for every team in the NASL. Included in it were all of the combinations used by Indy Eleven, as well as the number of times they wore it and their record with the combination. I have duplicated this here (again from the Way Back Machine's archive of his site: Rankings Introduction, 48-37, 36-25, 24-13, 12-1), though not in his order.

The team has also utilized a stripped red and white sock on Family Night against FC Edmonton on August 5, 2017 when the game was "presented by McDonald's."

Indy has also featured pink socks for Breast Cancer Awareness Night three different times:
  • 10/11/2014 vs Minnesota United (Indy's first home win)
  • 10/22/2016 vs Puerto Rico FC
  • 10/07/2017 vs New York Cosmos

Primary Kits - Navy jersey, white shorts, & red socks (Worn: 11 // Record: 5-3-3 // Points: 18). This was Patrick's #1 kit combination for that year and I have to admit that I miss the look of the different colored components.

Unused combination - Navy/Navy/Navy - The team has taken to use this combination as the primary kit combination, but that has not always been the case.

AWAY

Primary Away - White/White/Red (Worn: 10 // Record: 0-3-7 // Points: 3)

Alternate Away
White/Navy/Red (Worn: 4 // Record: 2-1-1 // Points: 7)

ALTERNATE

Alternate/White/Navy (Worn: 1 // Record: 0-1-0 // Points: 1)

Alternative/Navy/Navy (Worn: 1 // Record: 0-1-0 // Points: 1)

Alternative/Navy/Red (Worn: 2 // Record: 1-0-1 // Points: 3)

MILITARY APPRECIATION

Camo/Navy/Navy (Worn: 1 // Record: 0-0-1 // Points: 0)

2016 - Diadora

2017 - Adidas
Indy changed manufacturers and moved to Adidas. While fans appreciated the move to a larger brand name, the change came with fewer options, a larger cost, and most importantly to many fans, the loss of the team's checkerboard pattern.
